About Dean
Dean Washington is a lifelong Port Coquitlam resident, local business leader and experienced City Councillor who has spent 15 years working to keep PoCo affordable, vibrant and moving forward.
Born and raised in Port Coquitlam, Dean built his career and raised his family here. His commitment to the community stretches back more than 40 years through countless volunteer organizations and initiatives. He is the co-founder and longtime Chair of the Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show, now in its 21st year, and has served on the Downtown Port Coquitlam BIA Board of Directors and the PoCo Saints Lacrosse Executive, among many other community roles.
That same commitment shapes his work at City Hall. Dean brings a practical, business-minded approach to Council grounded in fiscal responsibility, sound decision-making and a belief that taxpayers deserve strong services and real value for their money. As Council’s longtime budget lead and Downtown designate, he has helped guide responsible City budgets, major infrastructure investments and the transformation of downtown Port Coquitlam — while never losing sight of what makes this community such a great place to call home.
